BMWs manufactured before 2005 had a warranty service plan called Inspection-Based Servicing:

• Inspection 1 – every 24k miles or 24 months
• Inspection 2 – every 40k miles or 48 months
• In addition, an oil service was required annually or every 10k miles

The above servicing schedule kept the BMW warranty intact and the vehicle in good condition.

BMWs manufactured after 2005 have a warranty service plan called Condition-Based Servicing, which means the car tells you what it needs via dashboard lights, the iDrive system, or alternatively, keys can be read, free of charge, at Pritchard Motor Services.

If you wish to access servicing information/requirements via your iDrive system, take the following steps:

1. Select Vehicle Info
2. Select Vehicle Status
3. Select Service Requirements

If you are relying on the dashboard lights to tell you about any servicing requirements, it’s good to know that the relevant servicing light will illuminate approximately 4 weeks before the requirement is actually due.

Condition-Based Servicing Lights & Prices:

		Engine Oil Service: replace engine oil and filter and reset service indicator. Every other oil service involves changing additional filters: air filter, microfilter, fuel filter and spark plugs where applicable.
		Air Filter Replace air filter and reset service indicator.
		Microfilters Replace microfilter and reset service indicator.
		Front Brakes Replace front brake pads and wear indicator lead. Brake disc thickness is measured during this service and advised for replacement if required. Reset service indicator.
		Rear Brakes Replace rear brake pads and wear indicator lead. Brake disc thickness is measured during this service and advised for replacement if required. Reset service indicator.
		Brake Fluid Pressure bleed brake hydraulic system and replace with new brake fluid. Reset service indicator.
		Spark Plugs Replace spark plugs and reset service indicator (petrol models only).
		Air Conditioning System Service Measure refrigerant quantity, complete system vacuum and leak check, replace oil and refill refrigerant to correct weight. Further leak checks may be required.
		Coolant Drain coolant system, replace and bleed system.
		MOT Complete MOT test. This is an annual inspection that makes sure your vehicle meets environmental and road safety standards set by The Ministry Of Transport. Required annually once the car is 3 years old.
		Vehicle Check Full Vehicle inspection, including brakes, suspension, steering, transmission and engine diagnostic check.
		Engine/Software Upgrade Update vehicle control modules with BMW’s latest software.
		Fault Diagnosis Complete diagnosis of vehicle fault.
